Dangerous Tree
A birch tree was just inches from my barn roof and leaning towards it!
I put a loop of rope around a big pine tree about 70 feet away and attached a hand winch.
The rope was also looped high up in the birch tree and some tension was winched onto it.
I made the cuts into the tree just leaving a half inch or so hinge.
Winched in and it came down sweet as anything and no damage to the barn roof.
A couple more years and the growth of the tree would have had it touching the roof tiles but the main reason for taking it down was to open up more light for the veggy plots. Now it will take me a day or two to cut it up, split and stack then chip the twigs for the paths.
