Bees and Sustainability

My preparations for being self sustainable are coming along now. I have more or less finished the fruit and vegetable garden, just need to keep it watered which is a lengthy process twice weekly and the pots need to be watered daily.

I have at last acquired some bees! I have put down about a dozen bait hives using lemongrass oil as a swarm attractant. One of them at my land in Urracal now has a healthy looking colony of bees. The neighbor up there said he saw where the swarm came from, a hole at the base of a tree, and I am also trying to get those too. I am using what they call Kenyan Top Bar Hives and I am using organic beekeeping methods, i.e. no chemicals! Here I am transferring the combs from the bait hive to a Top Bar Hive.
